Jason wants to break his rules, but sabotage is on the horizon.

As a rule, Jason Michaels never dates co-workers or subordinates. Whenever his assistant GG it around, he finds the rule difficult to keep. Not only was she his sous chef before a tragic accident left him blind, but she’s followed him to help in his lucrative food truck business.

Greta “GG” Gaines has loved Jason as long as she’s known him. She knows he lives an alternative lifestyle, but she’s willing to learn in order to be with him. At long last, romance blossoms between them, but her efforts will have to face one more challenge.

“That’s the last one.” She shimmied through the narrow opening, brushing against him.

The space was so limited they couldn’t help but bump into one another. Jason fought the overwhelming urge to pull her to him and learn every contour of her body. No, he couldn’t do that, no matter how much his hormones rode him to do so. He had to maintain their professional air because he didn’t mix business with pleasure, and it would definitely be his business to bring GG much pleasure.

“You good?” her sweet voice sliced through his mental fantasies.

“Uh yeah,” he answered a little hoarsely.

“You seem a little hot and bothered over there,” she teased.

Oh, if only you knew how much. Aloud, he said, “Hoping everything runs smoothly, and we sell out.”

She laughed. “Of course, we will.” Together, they put away the stock for the day. With the extra food in tow, it was a tight fit but everything was in its place. Jason washed his hands and donned gloves again before going back to shaping hamburger patties. He wished he could work out his desire as easy as he molded meat, but he had to be resigned with a semi hard-on the rest of the day, which was a little surprising for him. He seldom had this type of a reaction to a woman, but his body always reacted to GG like this. Did she know how much she turned him on?

GG stood on the house stoop, the box of leftovers in a bag over her wrist. Jason stood in front of her, fumbling with his key. She knew from experience not to ask him if he needed help. Actually, now that she thought about it, she didn’t hear the jingle of keys, but a series of beeps.

“You got a new lock?”

He chuckled. “August, that’s the other woman I date. She talked me into getting a keyless entry. What she didn’t tell me was when the batteries go and I don’t change them right away, I have to use my key.”

“August?” GG savored the name. “What’s she like?”

“Sassy, independent, and has a big heart. She’ll like you.” He stepped aside so she could enter. “She has a live-in love, but I’m not sure if he’s proposed to her yet.”

GG closed and locked the door and traversed the short hall into the kitchen. “Will I get to meet her?” She placed the leftovers in the fridge. “I put the box on the second shelf, lefthand side.”

She turned to find Jason in her personal space. He was so close she could smell his aftershave, a blend of citrus and pine. The heat of his body bled into hers. She closed her eyes, savoring the nearness. They’d worked in close quarters before, but this was different. They weren’t boss and subordinate, but man and woman. The thought was freeing and scary all at the same time.

She pressed her hands to his chest, marveling at the firmness there. A sigh left his lips, and it warmed her right down to her toes.

“I hope you don’t think this is too forward, but I’ve been wanting to do this for a very long time.” Gently, he tilted her chin and pressed his lips to hers.
