Delaney J. Morgan stood at the end of the long hall watching the room just to his left. He was close enough to hear the slurred  voices. Through the slit in the curtain, he caught a glimpse of one man lying in a raised bed, the foot elevated a tad tighter than the head. The other man was a blurred shadow, but every now and then he’d catch a glimpse of splinted hands.

Delaney smiled. Carson and Matt were pretty inventive in their retribution and Delaney filed that knowledge away for future reference. He shifted his stance as a nurse in maroon scrub pants and a coordinating flower print top squeaked by pulling a portable blood pressure machine.

He shifted his stance. using his good hand to cover the side of his damaged face. Delaney needn’t have worried, the white doctor’s smock he’d borrowed for his recon didn’t warrant him a second look from the other hospital staff. Delaney shuffled down the hall to a supply closet. There he pursued the contents for the items he would need.

The best thing about being in a hospital was the ample supply of gloves. Blood and gore was expected, even welcomed it. Delaney smiled as he pocketed the tools he would need for his upcoming encounter.

From experience he knew the nurses wouldn’t be around this end of the hall after the nurse collected her vitals. He waited until the nurse left the room and moved on to the next one before he quickly entered the room, closed and locked the door behind him.

He donned a pair of latex gloves before he pulled the curtain firmly closed/ Delaney surveyed the two men. Both looked pale and sickly against the white sheets off the hospital beds.
